The women behind these striped woven baskets work within a small weaving group in rural Kenya. Before, the weavers would travel to Nairobi to sell their woven baskets at city markets. Today, these women can earn a sustainable income from home, working to complete regular orders during pockets of downtime between childcare, housework and farming.
Most of these weavers are from farming families who rely on steady rainfall to feed, support and clothe their families. So we make sure that when farming slows down, weaving work picks up.
